Scope of Work
Condition Assessment: Detailed inspection and prioritization of crack patterns to determine repair strategies.
Crack Preparation: Cleaning, routing, and drying to ensure proper adhesion of sealants.
Sealant Installation: Application of hot- and cold-applied sealants for watertight protection.
Localized Repairs: Mill-and-fill and patching in areas with severe pavement distress.
Preventative Strategy: Long-term maintenance planning and shop drawings that supported lifecycle cost savings, especially critical in regions with high asphalt replacement costs.
Outcome
With comprehensive management and shop drawing support, the program successfully reduced water ingress and salt-related deterioration, extended pavement service life, and improved roadway safety for local traffic
Overview
This preventative maintenance program addressed roadway and parking lot surfaces across the Thunder Bay region. The objective was to extend pavement life and reduce the need for costly asphalt replacement by sealing cracks and conducting localized repairs to prevent water and salt penetration.
Our Role
We delivered Project Management and Shop Drawing & Detailing services. Our team conducted the condition assessments, developed technical specifications, prepared shop drawings for repair methodologies, and ensured contractors implemented the works as designed. As consultants, we verified compliance with safety and quality standards before final acceptance.
